What is middle age? It's a state of both mind and body - it's waking up one day and realizing that you're closer to the end of your life than the beginning, even if you “eat clean”, you exercise every day, and your genetics are unparalleled.
Once you hit the middle, you're no longer targeted by advertisers. No one is interested in what you’re wearing, or what music you’re listening to. Your kids think you’re hopelessly out of it, your parents think their generation did it better. Meanwhile one is asking to borrow the car while the other needs help texting a photo. Again.
In truth, it’s a terrific time to settle in under the radar and be the person you want to be while no one’s paying attention.
In this newsletter I'll dig into themes and ideas that are interesting to those of us in the middle. I'm hoping you'll participate - because while I'm all about pondering I hate pontificating.
Here's what I won’t be talking about: the skin serum that will make you look ten years younger, five exercises to stay fit into old age, or the ten things you should eat if you want to live to 100.
I may be creaky, and a little forgetful, but I'm an optimist through and through and I’m enjoying life - despite being inundated with advice on staying youthful. Forget what the media tells you! We're strolling on the sunny side of the street.
I'm already so delighted by this. I cannot wait to read more!
